About PenguinTekCurrently, PenguinTek is a private server shared by a small group of friends (most of which are Linux users.) It is used to host small projects, mailing lists, and shell services. Accounts ARE NOT available to the general public, so please don't ask.
Our current hardware configuration is a Dell system running a dual-core Intel Pentium 4 3.0GHz CPU, with 1GB of RAM. The system is set up to use CPU scaling, which means the CPU runs at approximately 375MHz when idle. This is done to save on energy costs (both energy used by the system, and for cooling) along with reducing the amount of heat produced by the system. Whenever a process needs additional CPU resources, the OS will speed up the CPU as needed (until the maximum speed of 3GHz is reached.)
The system is connected to the Internet via a cable connection, utilizing a Linksys WRT54GS wireless router running modified firmware.
